HILLPAC POLICIES & PROCEDURES
The HCMA does not endorse any candidates; our political arm, the Hillsborough Political Action Committee (HILLPAC), does endorse candidates.
REGARDING ENDORSEMENT/CONTRIBUTION:
Who do we endorse: Florida House, Florida Senate,
Who don’t we endorse: Candidates for Judge, Sheriff, Councilman, County Commissioner, Mayor, (just say county and city races?).
HILLPAC is unable to contribute to national campaigns but can endorse national candidates and encourage members to contribute individually.
Endorsements are made after following procedures:
The HILLPAC and the Florida Medical Association Political Action Committee (FMA PAC) work together to support pro-medicine candidates; House and Senate candidates in Florida are considered. Candidates are interviewed by FMA PAC and HILLPAC. After the candidates are interviewed, ones that are believed to be pro-medicine/pro-physician are selected by the HILLPAC Board to be supported/endorsed by HILLPAC. Only after candidates have been officially endorsed by FMA PAC and HILLPAC do we disseminate a list of candidates for our members to consider voting for and supporting by way of monetary contribution, volunteering, etc.
REGARDING FUNDRAISING FLYERS SUBMITTED BY MEMBERS:
In order for any Fundraising Flyers/Announcements/Invitations (hereafter refereed to as “Flyer”) to be emailed/blast faxed to the HCMA membership, the following criteria must be met:
- Host committee must listed on flyer and include an HCMA member;
- Flyer must be approved by the HCMA Executive Director and/or HILLPAC Board;
- If candidate is not HILLPAC and/or FMA PAC endorsed, the following disclaimer will be added to the flyer: “This candidate has not been endorsed by the HILLPAC. For a list of HILLPAC endorsed candidates or for HILLPAC policy and procedures please contact the HCMA office: 813.253.0471”
